It is called Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). There is, however, an attractive, all-platform option offered by Adobe. Kindle is multi-platform (PC, Mac, dedicated readers, iOS, and Android) iBooks are restricted to Mac and iOS (i.e., iPhones and iPads). Unfortunately, each is highly restricted by their owners (Amazon and Apple, respectively), leaving little flexibility for distribution and use in a physical or online classroom setting, as we need in our training program at Starpath. ![]() Both have well designed systems, which means: easy ebook purchases, distribution, and reader apps with many functions. Kindle is the most popular and iBooks is likely next. Reading PDFs For PDFs, the scroll bar is on the right side of the screen, consistent with Adobe Reader software (and a better compliment to its Fit Width view, in which top-down scrolling is more natural).There are several ebook formats on the market. The Reading menu has an EPUB Text Size submenu for modifying the text size. Reading EPUBs For EPUBs, the navigation bar is across the bottom of the screen, consistent with how most eReaders present a book (scrolling left to right like flipping the pages of a book). Toggle Full Screen View There are two types of eBooks with slight differences in navigation and magnification features: EPUBs and PDFs Text size (EPUB) or PDF View Options (PDF). Opens up a left-side navigation panel for table of contents or bookmarks. Takes you to the library viewĪdd Bookmark. Below that is a row of icons representing common actions you might want to take while reading, as follows: When you open a book, the Reading menu appears at the top of the application window, providing navigation, search, and other features. Choose your download format (if more than one format is available).Choose your download period, from the options available.Otherwise, you will need to sign up for a free Adobe ID before authorising If you have an Adobe ID, enter your details and select ‘ Authorise’ Once you have installed this software, you will need to authorise the Reader on your device. You will need to download the free Adobe Digital Editions app (you need an Adobe ID to use the app). Within ADE, the ‘Library’ option will show you the books that you have downloaded and how long you have access for. ![]()
